By Heidi Hansen

LOGAN— Hans Peter Arendsten, 27, of Logan, charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, pleaded guilty Monday in 1st District Court to the first charge in exchange for having the second charge dropped.

Arendsten faces up to five years in prison for his third DUI offense. Sentencing is set for Jan. 4. He was represented by attorney Neal S. Randall and said he pleads guilty “to driving under the influence of alcohol on a public road in the state of Utah while having a breath alcohol concentration of .08 grams or greater.”

Arendsten was arrested by officer John Italasano from the North Park Police Department June 22 in the vicinity of 1700 E. 1900 North. Italasano used a breathalyzer test and found that Ardensten had a breath alcohol concentration above the legal limit, and there was a failure to appear warrant out for his arrest. Arendsten was taken into custody and booked into the Cache County Jail. He was later released on a bail bond of $1,800.
