LOGAN — A Logan police bomb squad exploded a suspicious laptop computer left at a Hyrum bus stop Monday morning.
The laptop, which transit officials found to have a note reading, “Boom, boom, boom” inside, was checked by a remote-controlled robot and then destroyed shortly after noon Monday as a precaution, Logan police said
A Cache Valley Transit District bus driver found the laptop at a Hyrum bus stop around 10 a.m. The bus made its route back to the Transit Center in Logan, where the computer was stored in lost-and-found.
“It sat there for a few hours,” Logan Police Lt. Mike Peterson said. “Then an employee opened the laptop to get information to contact the owner and came across a note inside that read, ‘Boom, boom, boom.’”
CVTD officials called Logan police and redirected bus routes. Police closed off a one-block radius around the transit center while the bomb squad checked the computer for explosives.
The CVTD bus driver found the suspicious laptop at a Route 12/13 bus stop outside the senior center at 725 E. Main St. in Hyrum.
