LOGAN–Trevor Maddock of Logan was arrested Thursday and later charged with two third-degree felony counts of protective order violation.

According to Captain Jeff Curtis of the Logan City Police Department, Maddock, 22, was found in violation of the order when he and the order’s petitioner were involved in a car accident Thursday. Curtis said Maddock had left the scene but later returned. Curtis said police officers on the scene were aware of the order, and after receiving a copy from the county attorney’s office, placed Maddock under arrest.

While charges have been filed, Curtis was not aware of a court date being set.

A protective order is an order by a judge forbidding a person to contact the order’s petitioner. Curtis said the order against Maddock stipulated he was supposed to stay at least 500 feet away from the petitioner. Curtis declined to speculate on why the two were together prior to the accident.
