NIBLEY — At the groundbreaking for the new city hall, Nibley Mayor Gerald Knight said, “We hope that this is a place that will meet our needs for the next 15 plus years.”

Many members of the community came to support this event though the weather was a little chilly. Jim Childs, the architect for the project, said, “We hope that we have been able to create a building that will serve the city for many years.”

Among those who were there, 12 of the Youth City Council came to watch.

“This is the first stepping stone, and something for the youth council to remember,” Wayne Anderson, the general contractor, said. Part of the ceremony was looking towards the future and hoping that this will be used by many people in the future.

“We came because we are the future,” said Samantha Jenkins, a member of the youth council. The group was excited to be able to take part in the ceremony and all were able to get a shovel and do a little digging of their own.

Mckenna Peay said she came because “the older [people] always need the support.” The “older” people laughed at this with no comment.
