LOGAN — A man was arrested Saturday night after police responded to a domestic dispute call on 300 East around 11:30 p.m.

Prior to the arrival of the Logan Police, three men were playing cards at the house where the situation occurred, according to the arrest report filed by Officer Brandon Bevans. One of the men, 33-year-old Jacob Lawrence Johnson, became intoxicated and angry during the card games. When the victim, a 26-year-old female, attempted to leave the house where the three men were playing cards, Johnson became angry and assaulted her, the report said.

Bevans reported that no weapons were involved but Johnson used his fists to attack the woman. The complainant wished to remain anonymous according to the police but one of the other card-playing males was a witness to the event.

Lt. Brad Franke said that upon the arrival of police and paramedics, Johnson was arrested and put into one of the four squad cars parked on the street; the paramedics took care of the victim and then transported her to Logan Regional Hospital. According to the arrest report, none of her injuries left her incapacitated.

Johnson was cited with a class-A misdemeanor for simple assault due to injuries he caused to the victim, one count of intoxication and one count of disorderly conduct, Franke said.

The entire area was blocked by four squad cars, an ambulance and a fire truck.

“It looked like they wheeled out a dead body then just stuck her in the ambulance and did not leave for awhile,” said neighbor Tyson McLaws. “She looked dead because they had her covered by a white blanket even past her head when they wheeled the stretcher out.”

Another neighbor, Matt Christensen, said, “I saw them all pull up and they were inside for a long time, then they pulled out this dude they arrested. I went back inside though it was so cold.”
