USU not talking about possible bicycle death lawsuit yet; memorial fund established

LOGAN – As Utah State University continues the healing process of losing one of its own in a tragic bicycle accident, university officials are focused on just that.
USU Public Relations spokesman Tim Vitale says the university hasn’t had any internal conversations about the possible threat of a lawsuit, and won’t until other pressing matters like funeral arrangements are attended to for the late Eric Anderson, the student who died Aug. 26.
“Right now we’re just dealing with what’s in front of us,” Vitale said. “Both of those are things that we’ll address as they arise, that would be the appropriate time to think about that.”

Wayne Anderson, Eric Anderson’s older brother, said in an email to university administrators that he and his family are very appreciative of the help and support they have received from the university.
“Thank you so much for everything you have done for our family,” he wrote. “It means so much to us in this time of such a great loss to our family. We won’t forget you and all the staff that helped us through this great hardship.”
Eric Anderson’s funeral was held Aug. 31 in West Jordan.
Vitale said those who wish to help can donate to a memorial fund for Anderson, established to help alleviate his family of funeral, burial and headstone costs. Those who wish to donate can deposit funds to the Eric S. Anderson memorial fund at America First Credit Union, account number 9062159. Donations by check through the mail can be sent to P.O. Box 9199, Ogden, UT 94409.
