WELLSVILLE—The Wellsville home that went up in flames Saturday night caught fire again early Monday morning, forcing neighbors from their homes in the pre-dawn dark as a precaution.

Fire officials said Tom and Latetia Leishman’s house at 750 E. 400 North was a total loss after the second fire in less than 36 hours.

Cache County fire officials ordered the Leishmans’ neighbors out of their homes when the fire, which gutted the house Saturday evening, reignited at about 4 a.m. Monday.

“We just wanted to be safe, with the homes being so close together,” an officer said.

No one was injured when the house caught fire again, the official said, and the cause of the second fire was unknown. The original fire, which engulfed the home at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, was caused by either a bad valve on a barbeque grill or the grill’s propane tank or hose, officials said.

At least 10 emergency response vehicles were at the scene early Sunday, including units from the Wellsville, Logan City, and Mendon fire departments.

Both Leishmans had been hospitalized after Saturday night’s fire with smoke inhalation and shock, officials said.
