Budge Clinic celebrates its grand opening

October 24th, 2015 Posted in Logan News

The Budge Clinic section of the Logan Regional Hospital will have an open house on Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to showcase additions and renovations that have been made.

Visitors who attend the open house will be able to tour the new facility to see the new improvements, as well as participate in an organized scavenger hunt. They will be given a card with a list of the different departments within the clinic and an employee will initial their card at every check-in desk they go to said Sally Stocker, the clinic’s marketing manager.

“This is so visitors will learn where each specialty is within the clinic,” Stocker said. “We’ll also have snacks.”

Stocker said the term “open house” is kind of a misnomer because the clinic actually re-opened in April, but renovations have continued since then with the last ones to be completed this weekend.

“There’s a much more open feel about the place,” said Susan Bingham, one of the clinic’s medical assistants, referring to the renovations. “It’s prettier too, and people like that.”

One of the biggest improvements to the clinic is the implementation of “pods,” which are rooms where the physicians and medical assistants work, Stocker said. These pods are separate areas from where the patients are treated.

“The pods are mostly for patient privacy and to maintain order,” said Dalton Birky, a patient service representative for pediatrics. “This way patients don’t walk through the areas where the medical assistants are working.”

Apart from a the pod system, additions to the Budge Clinic include the Sleep Medicine and Allergy Immunology specialties, with more specialties expected to be implemented in the future.
