LOGAN–For students and faculty at Utah State University who found it difficult to make it to class on time Thursday and Friday mornings because of the road closure on 800 East and 800 North, Monday morning will be a relief: the road will be open and operating again.

Locating a fire line for Bear River Activity and Skill Center was a necessity, required by the fire department and sponsored by a federal grant.

“We will be completely done on Monday,” said Karl Thomas., Cameron’s Excavating construction crew supervisor. “We’ll be doing some cleanup work on Monday but the road should be open.”

While the construction crew completely blocked the street for a few hours on Thursday morning, the east side of the road was open for the remainder of the time for campus and Logan shuttles and emergency vehicles.

“We let the cars coming down pass by,” Thomas said. “But if there are buses, they have to go around.”

Despite the fact that the company had put up “caution” ribbons, some pedestrians didn’t realize that the sidewalks were closed as well.

“They had to walk through the construction site to the other side of the road,” Thomas said. “It wasn’t a big deal.”

According to Thomas, the construction crew didn’t meet any challenges. The weather was pleasant which allowed the workers to finish the project in the estimated time frame.
