LOGAN–The Lil Ol’ Shoppe of East to West Antiques will soon celebrate their six-month anniversary of being open here in Logan.

Co-owner Hank Schilder retired from the police force and soon opened up a boutique for his wife, Brenda, as a surprise gift after battling with breast cancer.

“I see it as an encouragement for women with cancer,” Brenda said.

The shop owners have a dog named Maddie that greets people at the door. “She loves greeting people with the wag of her tail,” Brenda said. Maddie is a certified therapy dog that they take to the hospital to help cheer up patients.

The store carries soaps, lotions, crafts, artwork and even candies made here in the area, that may also be found at the Farmers Market. Brenda said they are expecting to receive a teal blue couch and a glass door bookcase from the early 1920s, soon to be put up for sale.

Hank is a big fan of the furniture while Brenda leans more towards lace tablecloths, linens and jewelry. Hank travels two to three times a year across the country looking for new things to sell in their store. Brenda stays behind to keep the store running, and to decorate.

“We had a good fall and winter,” Brenda said. “We are looking forward to the spring and summer and just having a good time.”

The antique store is located at 55 North Main. Maddie will be there to great you, as always.
