SMITHFIELD – Fidel Ayllon, 35, of West Valley City was pulled over Tuesday evening by Smithfield Police for having a non-working headlight, but ended up with a much bigger problem. The arresting officer discovered Ayllon also had a warrant out for failure to appear in court in San Juan County. He made the arrest and issued Ayllon a “fix it ticket” for the headlight. Ayllon was booked into the Cache Couny Jail.

“Drivers get upset for being pulled over for missing lights and other things like that,” Sgt. Nick Hidalgo said. “But as in this case a lot of those stops lead to DUIs or other issues like this warrant.”

Hidalgo said fix-it tickets are generally dismissed if the individual can show proof that the problem has been resolved within 7-14 days.
