Getting that boot off your car could now cost $75 in Logan

LOGAN–City council members unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday setting the maximum fee booting companies can charge to the state’s current maximum.
Logan City Attorney Kymber Housley said the ordinance would allow private booting companies to raise their charge to the $75 state fee, but that companies are not required to raise their prices from the current $70.
The council also heard a report from Willow Park Zoo advisory board member Reggie Slocombe on the upcoming “Boo at the Zoo” event. The event will take place Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include various vendors, games, costumes and an animal encounter. Punch passes for the activities will be sold for $6.
Slocombe said that over 1,000 people attended last year’s event and just under $1,000 was raised for the zoo. Slocombe said the zoo has been struggling to maintain the cost of business and that every little bit of donations helps. An estimated $43,000 of at-the-gate donations were acquired last year but the zoo has had to dip into the reserve fund to cover all costs, said Slocombe.
