Logan council seats won by Quayle, Daines

LOGAN–Voters confirmed Holly Daines and Dean Quayle to 4-year terms on the Logan Municipal Council Tuesday.
The final count was 2,906 for Quayle and 2,763 votes for Daines. Tony Wegener received the next most votes with 2,328 and Steve Stokes followed with 1,595.
“I feel excited, I feel glad the campaign’s over with, I feel ready to go to work,” said Daines as the second-to-last district count came in at about 11:30 p.m., confirming her and Quayle’s win.
Daines said she has been attending city council meetings for the past several months and feels like she can jump right in when her term begins in January.
“I’m exhilarated right now! How ’bout that?” said Quayle. “Pleased with the way it’s all turned out.”
Both Quayle and Daines said they think the most pressing issues facing the city in the next four years include Logan’s aging sewer and water infrastructure and traffic and air quality problems.
Tony Wegener said the result of the general election mirrored the result’s of September’s primary election, so he wasn’t entirely surprised. “It’s been a little closer,” he said.
Wegener and Stokes both said they feel they influenced the city in a positive way by running.
“Dean Quayle and Holly Daines both graciously invited me to keep talking,” Wegener said, laughing. “We will stay interested in Logan politics, that’s for sure.”
Stokes said he is proud that he made it through the primary election and because he’s only 26 years old, he thinks he will eventually find a place on the council. “I still have a lot of (campaign) signs,” he said. “So we’ll see what happens two years from now.”
Three 4-year council seats are up for election in November 2011.
