LOGAN – A theft at Smith’s Marketplace on March 21 resulted in the arrest of a Logan man on suspicion of third-degree felony theft.

Logan City Police responded to Smith’s Marketplace, 750 N. Main, Wednesday afternoon after the store’s Loss Prevention department reported two adults stealing a phone charger. The two were identified as Dan Bennett, 33, and Krista DeAngelo, 41, both from Logan. After taking the merchandise, the suspects left the store in a vehicle. LCPD Capt. Jeff Curtis said police officers were able to locate the car headed westbound on 700 North.

“I’m guessing they had just come out of the parking lot and were headed to Main Street, but that’s an assumption on my part,” Curtis said.

Bennett was taken to Cache County Jail where he was booked on the retail theft count. “The reason it was a third-degree felony is because [Bennett] has had two prior convictions,” Curtis said. DeAngelo was not arrested, Curtis said.
