LOGAN–Clint Clair Gunnell of Logan was sentenced to six months in Cache County Jail by 1st District Court Judge Clint Judkins Monday, for possession or use of a controlled substance. Gunnell, 28, pleaded guilty to the charge and the state agreed to reduce the charge to a class B misdemeanor.

Gunnell is currently serving a sentence for a separate alcohol-related offense. Cache County Attorney Tony Baird said the main concern of the state is that Gunnell complete drug and alcohol counseling.

Judge Judkins ruled that the six-month sentence can be served concurrently with Gunnell’s current sentence. The sentence includes a $1,000 fine plus a surcharge of 85 percent. The surcharge can be reduced to $750 if the program is completed in a timely manner.
