LOGAN – A Logan man was given a citation for retail theft Thursday at Smith’s Marketplace, located near 700 North Main St.

Logan Police Lt. Brad Franke said Carlos H Castro, 44, was caught attempting to leave Smith’s Marketplace with make-up that he didn’t pay for. Smith’s security called Logan Police.

Castro went into the men’s restroom with the makeup, but left the tags in the cart, Franke said. Security kept an eye on the individual and when he attempted to leave the store without paying, they stopped him and called police.

“He admitted that he had taken the item for his girlfriend and for the excitement of breaking the law,” Franke said. “He was remorseful and said it was the first time he’s ever tried to do this before.”

Castro will be required to appear before the Logan Municipal Court at a later date.
