MILLVILLE – The City Council left Wednesday for Salt Lake City for training sessions by the Utah League of Cities and Towns, which includes most of the cities in the state. The sessions are held annually in September, and lasted through Friday afternoon.

Rose Mary Jones, city recorder, said the meeting had been broken into several small classes where each city council could learn different aspects of how to better manage their cities. Jones said the council would participate in two to three classes every hour and would hear a lecture by an invited speaker at least once a day. According to the official ULCT website, the main topics of discussion are health and healthcare in the community as well as improving citywide commercialization.

Ron June, a Millville resident and former member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, went to the annual trainings years ago. He said the trainings were relatively the same though it used to be significantly shorter.

City Council will meet next on Sept. 26.
