MILLVILLE– The city is hoping to receive funding from the Cache County Recreation, Arts, Parks & Zoo (RAPZ) tax to build a pavilion 24 feet by 40 feet in the South City Park.

The council discussed the funding that would be needed for the project and will request $45,000 this year. Harry Meadows, city planner, will complete the application and submit the request.

This pavilion has been discussed before so plans are already drawn and completed. The city made the same request last year for the project but was only granted $5,000.

The structure would include a concrete bay and the entire pavilion would be constructed out of steel. It would include many long tables, a drinking fountain, water hose hookup, and some barbecue grills. There would need to be some electrical work done and new water lines put in to accommodate the structure. The council decided it would purchase the supplies needed and have citizens of Millville donate labor to finish these tasks in order to minimize costs.

RAPZ tax applications are due to Cache County on March 5 with the decision coming after that date.

Councilman Brian Jensen was on the agenda to present an ordinance on what to do with inactive water services throughout the city as discussed in the last council meeting but was not in attendance to present his plan to the council. That will be addressed in the next meeting on Feb. 25.
