PROVIDENCE — Plans to erect a new commercial general building and a single family residential area are moving forward after a public hearing at Thursday’s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. The new building will be located at the intersection of 440 West and 100 North St.

Builder Morris Poole said the approximate 9.95 acres of land will be split two ways. The city-owned 6.78 acres will be rezoned for a commercial general building, while the other 3.17 acres, owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be dedicated to single-family residences. Poole said an oral surgeon’s office will be the first business to occupy the commercial building.

The commission also said a roundabout, which needed approval by the Cache County Council, has been deemed appropriate and will be added to the intersection to help with the flow of traffic. Poole said he is aware of the plans for the roundabout, and he will work with both the city and the church to make sure the roundabout and entrances to the properties will be lined up smoothly.
