New video to be distributed for Love-A-Donor Week

February 24th, 2015 Posted in Opinion

A thank-you video has been added to the Student Alumni Association’s annual Love-A-Donor Week, which began Monday and will continue until Friday.

The video will be sent out to donors via email on Thursday.

The video includes a range of students and organizations expressing gratitude to alumni who give back to Utah State University.

“SAA chose a few individuals that were pertinent to the video as well as a few groups from campus such as the HURD, the president’s cabinet, members of the Greek community, the Polynesian Student Union and the Huntsman Scholars,” videographer Kevin Kartchner said. “Everyone was super pumped about being in the video. It went really well.”

The video includes footage of students from the organizations sharing reasons why they love Utah State and why they appreciate those who donate to the university.

“They just explain who they are and say thanks for donating,” Kartchner said.

Love-A-Donor Week is held to thank Utah State University’s donors including students, faculty and alumni.

“Tuition only covers 17.5 percent of the university’s operating revenue,” said Brady Dalton, the vice president of student giving. “Donors make up a chunk of the difference. It’s safe to say Utah State would not be where it is today without its donors.”

The video is another way students helped show their appreciation for those who donate, Dalton said.

Throughout the week, SAA will hold activities to give students a chance to appreciate USU’s donors and inspire students to donate to the university themselves, Dalton said.
