October 2nd, 2012 Posted in Opinion

LOGAN—USU President Stan Albrecht will announce this afternoon that Provost Raymond Coward will retire as Utah State University’s No. 2 administrator next summer, and that Noelle Cockett, dean of the College of Agriculture, will replace him.

In a statement to Agriculture faculty today, Cockett said, “Later today, President Albrecht will be making an announcement that Executive VP/Provost Ray Coward will be stepping down on July 1, 2013. With a heavy heart, I wanted to share the second part of the announcement with you, which is that President Albrecht has asked me to be the next Executive VP/Provost. My heart is heavy because I have loved working with you in my role as Dean, Vice President and Director. It has been my honor to facilitate and carry forward what is important to you and also to celebrate the impacts and outcomes that we have created.

“Please know that I am committed to continuing our momentum over the next nine months and most certainly when I move into this new role at the University,” Cockett said.
