Novemberfest raises funds for local nonprofit

Novemberfest, a two-day craft boutique fair put on by the Little Lambs of Utah, will take place today and Saturday in the Logan High gymnasium.
Profits and donations will be used to make comfort kits for children who have recently been taken into protective custody by the Department of Child Protective Services, and for those who are transitioning into foster care.
“Since we are a nonprofit everything we have is either donated or bought with money that was donated,” Little Lambs founder and president Ted Chalfant said. “Novemberfest is how we raise funds for our organization and also get more people involved.”
“Novemberfest is very important for us because it brings in many people in our community who are unaware of what we are doing,” said Nancy Buckway, the organization’s director. “The craft fair portion brings the crowd and then awareness for our cause is spread to each individual”.
At this event the Little Lambs of Utah is also encouraging the public to bring in blankets to donate for its Blanket of Their Own drive, which goes from November through January. With up to 1,700 blankets used annually, Chalfant said, the organization is always in need of more.
“Most of the children we see don’t even have their own blanket, so we make sure that there is a blanket in every comfort kit,” Chalfant said.
