PARADISE — Residents can expect to see an increase in police presence during the coming months. Wednesday the Town Council met with Cache County Sheriff Deputy Blake Hansen and discussed plans for summer police coverage.

Hansen, the deputy assigned to Paradise, started the meeting by apologizing for his absence during the last few months. He also updated the council on local police activity.

“Since the beginning of the year, 2013, we’ve taken 40 calls for service out here, 10 citations and seven warning,” Hansen said. “That seems a little bit low, so that’s something I can go back and get some feedback and see if we can get some more coverage out here.”

The council asked that Hansen to pay extra attention to Paradise as the weather continues to warm up.

“One of the problems spots that we have every year is on 200 West [and] 9200 South, what we call Thrill Hill,” Mayor Leland Howlett said. “Every spring we have kids who just need to get air and bad things happen.”

Hansen said he would spend more time patrolling “thrill hill.”

“After some of the wrecks you’ve had it kind of needs to be done,” Hansen said. “As the sun comes out and it starts to get warm speed always starts picking up.”

The council also discussed the town’s all-terrain vehicle policy. “We haven’t been too strict as long as they mind their business,” Councilman Jay Rinderknecht said.

Howlett said the as long at ATV drivers and passengers are acting responsibly they’re allowed to drive on town roads.

Hansen agreed with Howlett and said he looked forward to having a closer relationship with the residence of Paradise.

In other business the council:

  • reminded residents of the town clean up day April 27.
  • planned to review and create budgets during the next council meeting.
  • announced the next council meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. May 1.
