LOGAN—A Logan woman was arrested April 24 after signing a false name to her written police statement.
Logan Police Lt. Brad Franke said police were called to 412 N. 200 East to review a minor car accident between Rachel Vasquez, 28, and another driver in the InstaCare parking lot. According to police, Vasquez gave officers her name but said she did not have her driver’s license or any other identification with her.
Police were suspicious of Vasquez’s identity and said after further investigation they discovered Vasquez was impersonating her sister. Franke said officers confronted Vasquez, and she admitted to impersonating her sister and driving with a suspended license.
Vasquez, who had signed a false name on her written statement, was then arrested.
“What’s really sad about this is that a minor traffic incident turned into this whole ordeal,” Franke said.
According to 1st District Court documents, Vasquez is being charged with forgery, a third-degree felony, and giving false personal information with intent to be another actual person, a misdemeanor.
