Pave Paradise, fill up the potholes, please

PARADISE — The Town Council spent the majority of their meeting Monday discussing which roads were most in need of being slurry sealed and repaved.

“Some of the roads are starting to fall apart, causing some real bad craters,” Mayor Leland Howlett said.

During this time of year the roads get wet then they freeze, causing potholes to grow, Howlett said. “We usually notice pot holes while we’re plowing snow,” he said. Paradise town often plows their own streets after a snow storm because it’s cheaper than paying a contractor to come out and do it.

The council will work on filling the potholes in the coming months and urged citizens to exercise caution as they drive around town.

“We will get them filled when the weather is warm enough and dry enough to have a lasting repair,” Howlett said.

In addition to filling potholes, the council came up with an idea to create a color-coded map of the towns roads so they can easily see which ones have been repaired in recent years and which ones are due to be fixed.
