Storm water proposal leaves North Logan residents puzzled

NORTH LOGAN–New subdivision storm water design standards proposed at Wednesday’s City Council meeting left North Logan residents and council members confused.

The proposed change is needed in order to use new storm water design standards, according to the agenda for the meeting. But the points were not clear, said citizens Alan Collins and Lydia Embry.

Collins voiced particular concern over the use of phrases like “contributing area” and “project,” whose meanings were not specified in the ordinance.

“The average citizen has no way of knowing how this applies to him,” Collins said. “If someone else takes over the city administrator’s spot, he might interpret this information entirely different than the current administrator.”

Embry was more concerned about the lack of information the public and council members had about the ordinance.

“We don’t know when the project will start, when it is supposed to be finished, who is in charge of it, or how much the project will cost, specifically North Logan,” Embry said. “And do we have a backup plan?”

Council members voiced similar concerns.

Mayor Berentzen said, “There’s a lot of work to be done before we can approve it as a city council.”
