LOGAN – A 47-year-old Logan man was assaulted while walking near 200 West and 1200 North Monday night. The victim said his assailant approached him, called him a liar and a thief, and began assaulting him.

Logan City Police promptly found Jeremiah Dobson, 30, of Logan, walking in the area of 300 North. Lieutenant Brad Franke said the suspect was cooperative and readily admitted to the assault.

“[Dobson] believed the victim had stolen a knife from him some time ago,” Franke said. “In his version, there was more of a dispute between the two of them, he didn’t just attack him, but it was a fight.”

Dobson was arrested on one count of class B misdemeanor simple assault, and released on a misdemeanor citation. The victim suffered minor injuries to his back and arm and was transported to the Cache Valley Specialty Hospital where he was expected to make a full recovery, Franke said.

Such assaults, especially so public, are not commonplace for Logan, Franke said.

“It’s very rare,” Franke said. “Clearly these people knew each other and had some past history,” Franke said. He called this incident the boiling point of the confrontation.

“These people had an ongoing problem between them that resulted in this dispute,” Franke said. “We certainly don’t believe from this incident that there is any risk to the community at large.”
