USU student TV newscasts win region top honors

DENVER—Cache Rendezvous, the JCOM student TV news magazine show, and ATV News, the weekly newscast, went one-two in the regional Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards competition in Denver on Saturday, winning Best All-Around Newscast honors in the Region IX competition.

The top award winners in each Mark of Excellence category goes on to national competition at the annual SPJ convention in October.

SPJ Region IX includes Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico, which means the newscast originating from the Animal Science Building beat out some impressive competition from much bigger schools.
